A bit of Machu Picchu travel advice:

Apparently, the branch of the Peruvian government that is tasked with preservation of ancient Peruvian ruins including Machu Picchu is now strictly enforcing a limit on the number of visitors per day to Machu Picchu. The advise is to buy tickets to Machu Picchu online ahead of your arrival at Machu Picchu.

It is also advised that you work only with reputable tour operators if you are hiking the Inca Trail to ensure that your admission to the site is included.
