Unique Hotels of the World: Gamirasu Cave Hotel
About Unique Hotels of The World

As a travel destination, Turkey has much to offer. The fact that the country spans two continents and has been a hub of world trade for centuries causes the country to be a rich natural melting pot of cultures and goods from around the globe. For the closed-minded American who believes that the rest of the world is evil and that Muslims are at the forefront of that evil, a trip to Istanbul will help break down those stereotypes in short order. With the charm and charisma exhibited by so many of the people in Istanbul, it’s easy to forget that they’re hustling. Even with the hustle always going on, once you let down your guard a bit, it can be great fun and a wonderful way to learn about the culture in your host country.
The historic Cappadocia region of Turkey is off the radar of many of the cruise ship and tour bus folks who travel to turkey, but if you want a unique experience it should be added to you Turkey itinerary.
The region bears some resemblance to Badlands National Park of South Dakota. Throughout the region many underground cities exist and many of these have been restored and are now available as hotels so while the Gamirasu Cave Hotel may be unique on a global scale, there are many hotels in caves in the area.
A description of the hotel:
ABOUT GAMIRASU
Gamirasu is the name of an exquisitely restored eighteen-room cave house opened in 1999, in Ayvali Village near Urgup in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey.Historical Inn…
The hotel is located in a restored one thousand year old Byzantine monastic retreat which offers modern conveniences without distracting from the spiritual feeling of the area which has been known to be inhabited for more than five thousand years.
Getting to this particular hotel from Istanbul is as easy as taking one of several daily buses or flights to the region. The hotel offers pickup service from both airports in Capadocia as well as from any bus station in the region.
For an experience to remember, stay in a cave hotel the next time you’re in Turkey and don’t forget to take time to enjoy this unique and wonderful place.
